Together With

Good morning, Wichita!

I want to talk about taxes.

Specifically, the dad tax that each and every kid must pay as they just acquired an inheritance of candy from their neighbors.

Enjoy your spoils, fellow fathers (and mothers).

Let's get to it!

- Landon Huslig

Wichita Life Community

As much as I love writing these emails and keeping you up to date on Wichita happenings (I do truly love it), I love meeting you, our readers, even more.

This is much more than me just writing these emails into the abyss. I like to think of Wichita Life as a community of people who love our city. If you email me, I will do my best to respond, even if it takes a few days.

That being said, I also want YOU all to be able to interact with each other, ask questions, share recommendations, etc.

We have a Facebook Group and Instagram Broadcast Channel. Any other ideas? Do you like those? Feel free to join either or both!

TOGETHER WITH THE CITY OF WICHITA

Did you know the City of Wichita has an email newsletter to keep you up to date on city hall happenings?

Things like:

  • Why the River is empty right now?
  • How low is Cheney Lake? (not related to the river being low right now)
  • Low Air quality
  • And so much more

Sign up today, so you don't just have to wait to hear it from us.

STARTUP

See You Next Year

It is easy to root for the underdog, especially when it is a local underdog.

A while back, a local Wichitan put up a project on Kickstarter for the β€œHalloween-est” Story of All Time.

They also made it to the FRONT PAGE of Kickstarter and have exceeded their $10k goal.

Planeta Venus

Did you know there is a local news publication focusing on the Spanish speaking population in Wichita called Planeta Venus.

They cover all kinds of things like this article discussing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.

How windy is Wichita?

We wrote a deep dive on this a while back, but why is Wichita, or Kansas, so windy?

After the first part of this week was ridiculously windy, the question arises again.

I’m no meteorologist, but KSN did a pretty good job breaking it down.

Oh and we got about 0.41” of rain Wednesday, now we’re only 8.71 feet below normal at Cheney Lake!
