Chock Full of Love

The last time a Wichitan made it to the final on an ABC Reality Show, they took second (Arthur Gunn on American Idol).

This time, Chock Chapple (president of Insurance Services Group) walked away with the win and a fiancé.

TOGETHER WITH THE CITY OF WICHITA

The City of Wichita wants YOUR input on the new Wichita Bicycle Plan, an update to the 2013 Wichita Bicycle Master Plan.

There have been many improvements over the last decade, but now is your chance to make your voice heard.

Here are a few things the new plan will include:

A city-wide bicycle network
Priority locations for bicycle infrastructure improvements
Bicycle parking improvements
Programs and policies to support bicycling
Action plan and funding strategies
Conceptual bicycle improvements for several priority locations

View the draft plan at WichitaBicyclePlan.com and send comments to LCarmichael@wichita.gov or SLKnebel@wichita.gov. The plan is then slated to be presented to the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Meeting on Monday, November 18 before being presented to the City Council in December.

Last weekend we went to a film screening for our friends Rolf Potts and Kiki Bush.

Parking Plan

The City of Wichita has had 4 options for downtown parking since they received backlash from the initial plan.

They just rolled out Option E which includes enhanced ops and maintenance in lots and parking garages, higher rates at some lots and garages, parking meters in downtown core in 2026, no changes to Delano, and more. See full details here.

Wichita now requires short-term rentals to be licensed, as of last month.

25% of those short-term rentals (i.e. Airbnbs or other), have not complied and you could received criminal charges if you do not follow the rules. Just a heads up if you fit the bill.

While we’re talking libraries, funding has decreased for many different parts of the budget like Ice Center and Century II, but libraries have stayed strong.

Which is amazing because they are such a great resource for our community.

Pickleball at WSU

Pickleball has exploded in Wichita.

There were some awesome courts right between the softball fields and Heskett Center at WSU that were torn down for the softball field expansions (much needed after the recent success).

The plan was to rebuild them elsewhere, but now the SGA has voted against the $137 needed to help with the project.

It is currently being figured out.
