Instead of doing our usual Monday email and a deep dive on Wednesday, we flip flopped these days because we want you to get the lowdown on a special week at Wichita State and didn’t want you to miss anything.
Shocktoberfest has been Wichita State’s annual fall celebration of Shocker Spirit and Pride since 1991. This multi-day series features events, activities, and competitions for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and our Wichita community.
This year, it will take place from 9/30 to 10/5 and will include events centered around spirit, pride and families are welcome to come down to campus for Family Weekend!
Many of these events are free and some are free with student ID.
Shocktoberfest 2024 Events
I won’t go in depth on all of the events happening this week, but I can give you a few nuggets so you have an idea of what is going on and you can check out the full list here.
I do want to make it clear that even if you are not affiliated with the university, you are welcome to attend events! If you just want to hang out, feel free to come on down.

Patio Party - Braeburn Square - 5pm to 7pm
Shocker Baseball Fall Scrimmage - Eck Stadium - 6pm
The inaugural Entrepreneur Market will highlight the many diverse small businesses in our community run by alumni, students and friends! Browse market stalls in Woolsey Hall throughout the morning to explore unique creations while supporting local businesses.
Brew Garden + Fan Fest - Koch Arena East Lot (2K & 2E) - 2pm to 6pm
Enjoy an afternoon filled with beverages from your favorite local vendors right here on campus. The Shocktoberfest Brew Garden + Fan Fest, in partnership with Shocker Athletics, will fill the alley and parking lot east of Koch Arena with music, breweries, food trucks and fun activities for the whole family!
Shocktoberfest Parade - 4pm
Join us for a celebration of Shocker spirit at the annual Shocktoberfest Parade through campus! Hear from Shocker Sound Machine, wave to Wu Shock and our student athletes, and see the creativity of student organizations on display as they showcase their custom floats. You won’t want to miss it!
Shocker Madness - Charles Koch Arena - 6:30pm
You won't want to miss out on the athletics showcase to kick o the 2024-25 season for our Shocker teams! You'll get a glimpse of the outstanding athletes joining Shocker Nation and enjoy friendly competitions and entertainment featuring players, coaches and fans. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

There are a number of competitions as well you can register for if you are a student, faculty, staff, dept, or student organization:

The Spirit Competition also comes with cash prize awards!
Royalty
There are also 12 students who were selected by their peers as members of the court based on their established leadership, academic success, and a dedication to bettering the Shocker community!

Family Weekend
To WSU students, bring your families to campus for a fun filled weekend at Wichita State University! Family Weekend includes events and activities that family and friends can choose to participate in at their own leisure.
If you missed the 9/22 registration date, you can still register on-site beginning Friday 10/4. On-site registration will include a welcome packet and meal vouchers.
