TOGETHER WITH THE CITY OF WICHITA
If you haven't heard, the City of Wichita is in Drought Stage 2.
Here are a handful of Outdoor Watering Tips:
🌿Limit watering to once per week.
🌿 Water just enough to keep root systems alive; allow lawns to go dormant.
🌿Water before 10 a.m.
🌿Do not overseed lawns or plant new trees or shrubs this fall.
🌿 Water just enough to fill up an upside down frisbee, once a week. Your lawn should go dormant but not die utilizing this schedule until the drought is over.
Zoobilee is the “wildest fun-raiser” of the year and also the biggest fundraiser for our Sedgwick County Zoo (currently ranked as the #1 outdoor tourist attraction in Kansas and the #7 best zoo in the US, but I’d argue it is higher).
I want to talk about what Zoobilee is and what to expect, but also take a peak into why our zoo is so special.
What is Zoobilee?

Zoobilee is the premier fundraiser for our zoo where you can enjoy live music, delicious drinks, and delectable bites from local hot spots around town with what seems like half of Wichita.
It really does have something for everyone and is a party that I can nearly guarantee you will enjoy.
The Food

There are more than 60 local establishments who bring delicious bites for everyone to sample. Be sure to take note of your favorites and bring your business to them after Zoobilee!
Guests with dietary restrictions can be assured that there will be something for everyone at the event.
Don't eat before you come, you can fill up. Maybe don't even eat all day leading up to it.
If you come across "The Beastro", that is the delicious main restaurant at the Zoo
The Drinks
Open bars, tasting stations, and a beer garden can be found throughout the Zoo.
To be honest, if you like to drink, you can more than get your money worth just from all the drink stands and open bars.
The Music
Groove to some of our favorite local bands all around the Zoo, including Makayla Brownlee, Tequila Ridge, Money Shot, Eclectix, Jake Burke, and Foolish Endeavors.
This year’s headliner, Jared Brown and the Dirt Road Misfits will take the main stage at 8:30 p.m.
The Shopping

Zoobilee is home to one of Wichita’s largest silent auctions, with hundreds of items to bid on.
Bid on items like jewelry, art, spa packages, vacations, and more.
What else do you need to know:
Zoobilee is being held rain or shine
Tickets are $200 (early bird $175)
Tickets are digital this year. You can download them to your Apple Wallet after purchasing online.
Zoobilee is this Saturday (9/7) from 6pm to Midnight
Pro Tips
Go left, thank me later
Tip #1
Just like in life, you often come to a fork in the road and have to decide which path to take.
Here is a pro tip - GO LEFT (or to the back). DO NOT go to the right.
If you do, you’ll likely find longer lines and more packed walkways.
It is a natural tendency to go right at the zoo, but I advise you to take the path less traveled.
(the right really isn't that bad, just busier)
Tip #2
Get there earlier than later. The event may run until midnight, but I would shoot for closer to kick off at 6 for a couple of reasons: you can enjoy a longer evening + it makes parking way easier.

“After 30 years of living in the Wichita area and hearing all the hype but not being old enough/not having the money/both i finally got in! i regret not eating something from every booth i walked by since the food ran out so fast - i knew it was a big event but didn't quite understand til i saw it - but i loved how the drinks kept flowing until closing time!”
