Good morning, Wichita!

Ninth Floor Club and Venue (formerly known as The Petroleum Club) is one of the coolest venues with one of the best views of Wichita.

We can’t talk about Wichita without you, but that means we need Wichitans to get involved with The Beacon.

Informed communities are thriving communities and the best way to be informed is to be engaged.

The Basketball Tournament (TBT)

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) kicks off on Friday where 64 teams (similar to March Madness) will compete over a few weeks for a winner-take-all $1 million that is split among the winning team.

The Wichita Regional runs from 7/20 - 7/24.

As you can see, even if you can't make it (which you should try to, it is an incredible atmosphere), you can catch some of the games on FS1.

Charles Koch Arena + Wichita has become the Mecca of basketball when it comes to TBT. We hold a majority of the top attended games (see below).

While our Aftershocks haven't quite won it all yet, they are the only squad to win a regional championship each of the last three summers.

What to Expect

Many of the teams are alums of a specific school (with a few others) which makes it really fun for existing fan bases. We are blessed with Wichita State, Kansas State, and Kansas each putting together a team that gets to play right here in the roundhouse (as well as a bonus Wichita team that had the luck of the draw with the Aftershocks round 1).

Aftershocks (WSU Alumni)

Zach Bush is back with his squad ready to roll. Expect to see fan favorites like Conner Frankamp lighting it up.

The AfterShocks are back and ready to put last year’s quarterfinals loss to bed. This group of Wichita State alum along with their raucous crowd have become a staple of TBT each summer. Last season, they broke the all-time TBT record with an attendance of 7,202 for their matchup with Heartfire. With the core coming back and another regional in Wichita, will this be the summer the AfterShocks get over the hump and bring the TBT trophy back to Koch Arena?

Purple Reign (KSU Alumni)

Jacob Pullen. That is all. Be ready for some fireworks.

Purple Reign (formerly Purple & Black) returns to TBT once again and this year they are all in. With a new and improved roster in place, the sky’s the limit for these Wildcats as they chase their first TBT Championship.

Mass Street (KU Alum)

Mass Street returns to TBT for the second consecutive year with the hopes of taking over the Wichita Region. After a stellar debut last summer, these former Jayhawks loaded up this offseason with the likes of Frank Mason and Thomas Robinson joining the squad. With a year of experience under their belt and some notable additions, this could be the year Mass Street tops both Purple Reign (Kansas State) and the Aftershocks (Wichita State) en route to their first ever TBT Championship.

Midtown Prestige

Midtown Prestige, a TBL team based out of Wichita. will make their first appearance in TBT this summer. They will be staying in their hometown with hopes of pulling out a few upsets en route to claiming TBT glory.

Fun Fact

The Big Diesel himself, Shaq, has a team this year. He took over the Gutter Cats squad and renamed it to Team Diesel. His son Shareef O'Neal is also on the team.

What Happens Next?

So what happens after the Wichita Regional? The winner will play the winner of the Houston Regional in the quarterfinals (time and location tbd, but if the AfterShocks make it, I have a feeling I know where....)

Philadelphia will host the semifinals and championship game on August 2nd and 4th respectively.

One of the best parts of the TBT? The Elam Ending.

Every game ends on a made basket instead of trying to run out the clock. It's pure magic.
