Conserve Water
It is nothing new that Wichita and surrounding areas have drought concerns.
One of Wichita’s main sources of water is Cheney Reservoir and it is currently only 63.9% full.
This could potentially move us into Stage 2 of the city’s drought response plan which would include mandatory water conservation.
Wichita isn’t the only city that uses this water source though, like Derby, Benton, etc who are also trying to conserve water.
One proposal to help limit the water is to roughly double rates for tier two and three water customers i.e. make large businesses who use a lot of water pay more for that water.
Attraction Funding
Sedgwick County commissioners are juggling a $2 million shortfall, contemplating cuts to cultural gems like the Sedgwick County Zoo and Exploration Place to balance the budget.
One option to keep these attractions funded is to implement additional sales tax.
Voting Locations
If you plan to vote this fall, double check the location.
Over 4000 voters who would typically vote at Heart of Christ Church are temporarily being moved over to Linwood Recreation Center for the August 6th primary.

Wichita Mansion
The Sternberg Mansion on North Waco was built in in 1886 and has been falling apart unfortunately.
That is until Pepin Suter bought it in 2022 and has been renovating it as a sober living space that can house up to 14 people.

Exploration Place Sets Record
We often talk about how much we love Exploration Place.
It turns out, we are not alone.
The 2023-24 fiscal year set a record-breaking 409,975 visitors which is a 13% increase from the previous year.
There are 10,753 households participate in the family memberships!
There were also 26,309 free admissions because something this special really should be experienced by everyone.
