Water Rate Hike
Don’t be surprised if your water bill goes up.
Unrelated to the conditions, thanks to inflation and the costs of the new water treatment plant, there will likely be a 6.14% increase in water and sewer rates for 2024-2025.
Free Rides on Election Day
Election Day is Tuesday 11/5. Wichita Transit will offer free bus rides on all traditional bus routes and paratransit service. Free rides are valid for everyone riding to or from polling locations as well as any other trip during the day.
Riders do not need to provide documentation of voting to receive a ride.
For Election Day 2023, we provided 6,144 free rides which is a 13% increase in Election Day ridership when compared to 2022.

Coming up in January 2025, Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith (member of the NBC Hall of Fame Class of 1992) will be coming out to celebrate the Hall of Fame Banquet.
Temporary Path Closure
From 12/2 - 12/20, you might have to reroute your daily river walk.
The path along the river and Exploration Place with be closed temporarily for construction and maintenance.
It will be clearly marked.
Scam Alert
I like to think the best of people without vitriol, but then people go and do something like this.
Beware of a scam where people are asking for money at intersections for a young girl who died of leukemia.
Botanica Volunteer Opportunities
Botanica (and many other places in town) are always looking for volunteers.
But tis the season for volunteers at Illuminations, the epic light show at Botanica every year.
They are looking for ticket takers, line monitoring, carousel attendants, and train operators. These positions come with some perks which you can find more information here.
