Hacker

You may have heard that the City of Wichita had its system shut off over the weekend due to malware.

More details have stated that the notorious and “most prolific and destructive” ransomware group, LockBit, is behind the cyber attack.

There is even a $10 million reward for info that leads to the arrest of one of the men behind it and the leader of the group, Dmitry Yuryevich Khoroshev.

Ascension Via Christi was also affected by a “cyber security event” which caused the hospital to divert patients.

Does this have the makings of a low-budget Hollywood movie? Maybe. We just need a hero now.

The Hub

“The Hub” is the name for the new multimodel center going in near Riverfront Stadium.

It will be Wichita’s new bus transit center and will have parking for hundreds of bikes, scooters, and vehicles.

The goal is to finish it by the end of 2025, but the city just started taking bids.

Kansas Turnpike

Put your quarters away.

The Kansas Turnpike is officially going cashless starting July of this year.

Here’s what cashless means for you:

There will no longer be an on-road payment option. All customers will keep moving.
A new toll payment system called DriveKS will allow customers to manage all their toll travel in one account, whether the vehicle has a transponder or is identified by its license plate.
Compatibility with other states will not be affected by cashless tolling and efforts to expand continue.

My suggestion before your late summer trip to KC? Get a K-TAG.

Ground Breaking

Hundreds of people gathered downtown to watch as the Wichita Biomedical Campus broke ground on Wednesday.

The $300 million collab between Wichita State University, Kansas University, and Wichita Technical College will be the largest investment in downtown Wichita history.

This has the potential to drastically change our downtown. Bringing thousands of faculty and students to the heart of our city is going to be awesome.

90 Years of Baseball

A lot of people have great memories of the NBC World Series, including me.

To celebrate, there is a new 90 Years of Champions Collection to highlight many of the legendary teams who have taken home the crown throughout the years!

Teams like the Bismarck Churchill, Wichita Dreamliners, Alaska Goldpanners, El Dorado Broncos, and the Liberal Bee Jays!
