Wichita is the Air Capital of the World for a reason.

Yingling Aviation continues the tradition as they just announced their 2nd major expansion project of the year that will bring its total to more than 320k sq ft.

$40k

A few Wichita State students just won nearly $40k in the FirePoint Innovation Center’s first Student Practical Architecting Challenge.

Congrats to Greg Heiman and Murphy Ownbey who won the competition and Aiden McGillivray who placed 2nd.

Refugees in ICT

Wichita is in the middle of a housing crisis when it comes to affordable housing.

According to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), 475 refugees have settled in Wichita over the past 12 months. The IRC has spent over $1 million on hotels for these refugees while they wait on permanent housing.

Women in Wichita

Wichita ranked 149 out of 182 cities in the USA when it comes to Best and Worst Cities for Women.

Overland Park (a suburb of KC) came in 8th, KC ranked 125 and Omaha ranked 102.

I am not a woman, but what do you women think?

This is based on median earnings, the quality of women’s hospitals, and more.

Allergies

How bad are allergies in Wichita this year?

Worse than every other city in the US.

Tree Proposal

Some neighborhoods in Wichita are full of trees and it is beautiful, but did you know trees in Wichita are in danger?

According to Wichita Parks and Recreation Leaders, we need more trees as we remove 3000 - 5000 a year (with more dying on their own) and we only replace / purchase 1300 - 18000 per year.

Walking Wednesday

This Wednesday is Walking Wednesday in the College Hill Park and Surrounding area.

Chess Festival

Coming in November is the Wichita Chess Festival.
