The inaugural Elsewhere Festival and Conference will be held in Wichita, Kansas, June 21 and 22, 2024.

Elsewhere Festival and Conference’s mission is to build community and opportunity for musicians and music workers in the Midwest, an area historically undervalued and underserved by the music industry despite its rich musical history.

The genre-agnostic festival will feature performances from Killer Mike, Lane 8, Vince Staples, Steve Aoki, Snow Tha Product, BADBADNOTGOOD, Sudan Archives, & more.

Closing Time

School is coming to a close for the 2023-2024 school year.

For the following 6 schools, their doors are now closed forever due to budget cuts:

Clark, Cleaveland, Park, Payne, Hadley and Jardine

Splash Pads

The time has come.

Sweet, sweet summertime.

Monday is Memorial Day and that means the 6 Wichita pools and 11 splash pads will open across the city!

If you or someone you know is looking for a part time job, be sure to look into being a lifeguard.

Wichita Public Art

You can now easily explore the full extent of public art in Wichita.

Air Capital Boulevard

Kansas Aviation Museum now sits on Air Capital Blvd after the City Council voted to over-name George Washington Boulevard. The ceremony was held this week to celebrate.

Firework Changes

Katy perry would be proud.

For the second year, you can buy and sell aerial fireworks in Wichita city limits.

Current rules:

Aerial fireworks can be fired off from July 3 - 5 from 10am to Midnight
“Safe and sane” fireworks can be used from June 27 - July 5 from 10am to midnight

You still can’t use whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser.

LOCAL

Pete Davidson

Pete Davidson of SNL fame came to Wichita this week to perform a couple of shows at The Orpheum.

While in town, he decided to do a little bit of exploring which included:

A stop at Knockout Sneaker Boutique where he traded some shoes and picked up a few pieces of YBG gear (because YBG is the best in the biz)
Stopping by the Wichita Country Club where he was escorted out (Apparently security didn’t get the memo that he’s the guy who made it cool to date a Kardashian)
A stop at Deano’s Bar & Grill to eat (at the recommendation of the WCC Manager)

To highlight his generosity, Pete gave away tickets to his show for all of the servers working at Deano’s.

Exploration Place

A lot is happening at Exploration Place.

The playscape along the river broke ground and will be ready for Fall 2025.

New exhibits are constantly coming about inside including the current DC Superhero exhibit (you can also stay the night in Gotham City)!

Memorial Day Murph Challenge

Join F3 Wichita for the F3 Murph Challenge on Memorial Day at 9am.
